Hair PRP – Platelet-Rich Plasma

Hair PRP

Hair PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is a non-surgical treatment that uses the patient’s own blood to promote hair growth and improve the overall health of the scalp. The treatment involves drawing a small amount of blood from the patient, which is then processed in a centrifuge to separate the plasma (rich in platelets) from the red blood cells. The plasma is then activated with a special solution to release growth factors and cytokines, which are then injected into the scalp in the area of hair loss.

The growth factors and cytokines in the plasma stimulate the growth of new blood vessels and increase the number of active hair follicles, resulting in thicker, healthier hair. The treatment is typically performed in a series of three to four sessions spaced several weeks apart, with optimal results seen after 6 to 12 months.

Example: A patient with male pattern baldness wants to improve the health and density of their hair. They visit a dermatologist and undergo a hair PRP treatment. Their blood is drawn and processed in a centrifuge to separate the plasma from the red blood cells. The activated plasma is then injected into the scalp in the areas of hair loss. The patient returns for additional treatments every few weeks, and after 6 to 12 months, they notice a significant improvement in the thickness and density of their hair.
